Scope of action
Imaging equipment covered by the industry’s Voluntary Agreement for Imaging Equipment within the Ecodesign Directive.
The main intent is to develop a market surveillance approach for products covered by a recognised Ecodesign Voluntary Agreement. This work package will develop and carry out an action for coordinated monitoring and verification of imaging equipment (printers, copiers, faxes, scanners and MFDs) which are subject to a Voluntary Agreement (VA) recognised by the European Commission under the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC).
Within the EEPLIANT project, individual participating authorities are sharing the market surveillance activities concerning this product group. Activities include document inspection, screen testing and full scale testing. Individual models selected for verification are being selected on a high risk basis, and with the aim to cover the relevant market share in individual countries and across the EU. Results for individual models are being shared among the surveillance authorities across the EU, and legal action is being taken concerning the noncompliant models.
Results and Impacts
At least 40 models of printers are being verified and tested by the EEPLIANT project. As the imaging equipment product category is covered by a voluntary agreement, results are also being shared within the respective industry association representatives and members.
